These are some cupcakes that we made for a little girl’s birthday party. These were all hand painted and took forever.!!! For those of you that know me, you know that my patience level is very small when it comes to cupcake designs…I love coming up with the designs and making a few (few=maybe 2 tops!) for prototypes and then teaching others to finish the full order of 50+ cupcakes. Well, unfortunately for the summer, we don’t have any interns so it fell to me! After they were all done and packed up, I was too tired to even open the containers to take a decent picture of them – I was so over it by then, lol. However, I did promise to take more photos of our special orders and will try and continue to do so…

This is a picture of a special order that we did today for a 5 year old’s birthday – ironically we have to another one for an adult in a cake form tonight…that’s right…a cake! With not a crown but more like a tiara for a beauty queen! I don’t know what to say – all I can say in my defense is that I was real tired last night when they came in and I caved…well, too late to turn back time – WE (that’s right, me AND caroline (no matter what she claims)) will be attempting to make this cake today. I will of course take photos — because when the client pulled out a photo of her tiara…well, there were no words…just none. I scerd…! real scerd…!

Yes, I know – I have made peace with the fact that I am a terrible blogger. I try and try to blog more often but between this and Facebook and Twitter … it’s a bit overwhelming! I again promise to be better with this and I know that I can do it…I just have to stop sleeping so much at night, lol. I have HUGE news….!!! …but sadly, everything hasn’t been finalized yet so I can’t say what it is just yet. Sorry for the teaser but trust me, as soon as I can say something, I definitely will and it will definitely be worth the wait! In the meantime, I have posted a photo of a Sex in the City themed special order that I had for today. I thought they came out pretty and wanted to share with you guys. I am going to be working on another special order for next week that is cute beyond belief for a 2 year old little girl’s birthday party. I will wish that I had these cupcakes when I was younger! So if you there are any blog readers of mine still out there — keep believing in me…I am determined to keep plugging away at this thing!

Hello! Again, I apologize for the delay in my post — it has been super crazy over here which is a good thing but not so good when you are trying to keep a blog updated! The good news is that I have officially moved! Hopefully for the last time since I think this is the 11th or 12th time I have moved in my lifetime! This is to say that I have moved, NOT the store, lol. I am now in walking distance to the store – woohoo! In other news, the photo that I have posted for this blog entry is from the very talented Katie Klein with Katie Klein Photographers. The Blushing Bakeshop was happy to feature some of our “adult” mini cupcake shots for an event held by The Knot which was planned by the beautiful ladies from Charmed Events. Katie was kind enough to send me copies of the photographs that she took from the event in which our minis were the focus. I loved this particular photo and it is now my computer desktop! I thought that I would share it with you!
I will also tell you that we have been doing a tremendous amount of special orders — some of which I cannot share with you as they were for a bachelorette party and were not suitable for children, lol! However, there were some extremely cute ones that we did for another event in a “Mad Hatter” theme which I thought was very appropriate since Alice in Wonderland just came out in the modern day version. These were so fun to make! I will post a photo of those shortly once I download them from my camera. Monday, I will post some cupcakes that we did for a man who is an avid fly fisher. Now, I don’t know what that means however, my assistant baker, Caroline’s family are so she took the lead on this one and they turned out spectacular. So, sorry again for the delay in my posts, but keep checking back – I will post new and wacky special orders as we get them! Thanks!

Hi everyone! I wanted to share another special order that we did this weekend. These mini cupcakes were ordered for a “set your table” themed wedding shower which I think is so smart! This way the bride and groom can get the table china that they really like. For these particular mini cupcakes, I did small plate replicas of the china pattern that they had registered for. I think that they came out pretty sweet — sorry this picture isn’t the greatest but it will at least give you an idea. I really liked the smooth piping on the minis and the tinge of color (pink – our signature color of course) and now I think that we will be making a change to the look of our daily cupcakes. More to follow later on that!

This is another special order that we have for today – mini purses. I love the colors on this and I hope they do too. I have been going a bit crazy experimenting with new flavors of cupcakes and just having fun with it. I think that I have finally found my signature cupcake which I will finally name after myself. It is a creme brulee cupcake and it will be heavenly once it is complete. I have great big plans for that one and can’t wait until it is perfect and we can introduce it into the rotation. In the meanwhile, I will keep posting pictures of the special orders as I get them. Enjoy!!

My nephew eating a chocolate easter egg…too cute!

This is now a display in my store. I think that it came out pretty and with the tones of pink, it fits right in. I wanted people to be able to visualize what a cupcake tower could look like and I really like the combo of the cupcakes with a cupcake bouquet on top. I hope that you enjoy this. My next project will be to make my own cupcake tower — I can’t find one that I LOVE and so I am going to attempt to make one that I would buy. I want it to look different from all the ones that you can find everywhere and I want it to look kind of antique-y. I will take pictures and post them as soon as I have something that looks decent.

I know, I know! I have been terrible keeping up with posting on my blog! I swear that I am going to do a better job. It should actually be easier to have content to write about since we are getting all kinds of orders and multiple opportunities to take photos. So no excuses, I will be much, much better at this! For this post, I wanted to post a few pictures of some items that I did — especially given that spring is in the air! I had so much fun making the gardening cupcakes and this is a cupcake bouquet for a little girl’s birthday. So I have some exciting news! We had a great article for an online magazine about our Thirsty Thursdays. Here it is: http://www.examiner.com/x-38326-Charlotte-Nightlife-Examiner~y2010m4d1-The-Blushing-Bakeshop-has-the-sweetest-alcoholic-specials
Check it out and stop by Thursdays to taste for yourself!!!
